Fraudulent - Apple Ipad mini

I purchased an iPad mini to be the special gift this year for my daughter. This product was advertised as NEW on Groupon goods NOT refurbished as some are. The product arrived, packaged like new, etc. SHe was so excited to receive it as it was a surprise. As she was setting it up an alert comes up to indicate that set up can't be completed because the iPad is already linked to another apple ID. So not only is this not a NEW iPad which is alarmingly dishonest, but when ipads are officially refurbished they are obviously not still linked to other people's apple ids. This begs the question IS GROUPON PROFITING OFF OF STOLEN GOODS? What a concerning, frustrating situation to run into on Christmas day. My family used to be avid Groupon purchasers, we won't be using them anymore. Discount websites are a dime a dozen, not a big loss. What is a big loss is the excitement of that big special gift on Christmas Day.
